The build quality is instantly obvious. it’s well made both in material quality also as design. the primary thing I did after unboxing was created a backup employing a USB 3 stick which took ~1 hour. then I opened it up and replaced the 256GB m.2 SATA SSD with a Samsung 960 EVO Series – 500GB NVMe – M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V6E500BW) drive.

the method was a touch difficult as I wasnt sure the way to get the bottom off after unscrewing all 15-16 screws. because it seems , with the bottom facing up and therefore the back facing faraway from you that you simply pull from the rear vents up. the bottom has all round the perimeter plastic snaps that need a touch effort to unsnap by pulling. take care these are easy to interrupt .

I broke 1 in my efforts which hasnt had any adverse effects but I could see 3+ being a drag. Once rock bottom was off the m.2 is near the ram. 1 screw to release the m.2 drive and getting it back together wasn’t an issue. I also put a Samsung 850 Evo 500GB/SATA within the 2.5″ bay.

I installed Windows 10 Pro (comes with Home) as I even have all my computers domain joined to Server 2016 Essentials (Home cant join domains). Install went smoothly, setup drivers, programs, AV, etc. Computer boots within the blink of an eye fixed, shutdown/restart is blazing fast. Updated BIOS to latest (I think 1.03 as of this review) and no issues thereupon .

I have only played Overwatch thus far, but it runs at a solid 60fps @ 1080p with Ultra settings. I do know not the foremost intense game but still impressive. The screen also impressed me. After doing plenty of research generally and a lot on this specific laptop the overall complaint appeared to be the monitor. I can tell you unless you’re a knowledgeable photographer/graphics designer who needs precise color that the monitor is impressive for what it’s. it’s the foremost matte display I even have ever seen, with virtually 0 reflectivities. It’s 1080p, sharp, 60hz. You don’t get premium features like G-Sync but if you run solid 60fps during a game there’s no real advantage and it’s not worth $200-300 more only for that feature in my opinion.

Coming from a laptop i7 4770k @ 4.4GHz with a GTX 1070 I am very inspired with this computer. I wanted the mobility as I will be running out of nation and traveling alot. I notice no difference in speed, if something this pc is a bit faster (most likely way to the 960 Evo SSD). It also places out manner much less warmness then my computer did. In a incredibly small 3rd bedroom/workplace my desktop could without problems warmth the room as much as the point of desiring to open a window or factor a fan into the room to direct cool air in. This laptop isn’t always almost as hot.

The cooling in this pc is great. In a virtually quite setting you could pay attention the fanatics, extra so underneath load, but in standard settings for me with a fan on or a tv on in any other room I cant hear them (particularly with headphones on). The Predator Sense app is simple and makes controlling the fans easy. Without CoolBlast turned on max rpm of the fanatics is mid 4k, with it on the max is going up over 6k however adds a noticeable decrease in temps. I generally toggle it on once I know unwell be gaming for some hours. Temps are reasonable in my opinion (Celsius):

CPU: 40min/~75gaming
GPU: 60min/70max (GTX 1060 disables when not gaming, so temp is min/max gaming)

Conclusion

for ~$1k you get a 7700HQ, GTX 1060, 16GB DDR4, exceptional matte 1080p screen, first-class build, NVMe capability, loose 2.5″ bay, backlit keyboard. Cant go wrong at this fee specifically when not anything else competes with comparable specs. I am very satisfied with my purchase, would tremendously recommend.

Still works great, no issues so far. Handful of updates for drivers/BIOS. I actually have still not seen anything that competes with this on specs/rate ratio. You could be hard pressed to construct a similar laptop version of this.
